Carly Rae Jepsen drops two new singles
Canadian pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen returned at the end of last year with her instantly catchy single ‘Party For One’. Although there is no release date for a next album yet, she decided to share not one, but two brand new singles. The tracks are titled ‘Now That I Found You’ and ‘No Drug Like Me’. Miss Rae Jepsen sure is known for her bop heavy discography and those two new tunes do not disappoint!
‘Now That I Found You’ could be described as Carly Rae Jepsen by the numbers. It is a straightforward synth pop banger with some 80s and 90s influences and a serviceable chorus. I don’t see this kind of late 90s Kylie Minogue inspired bop set the charts alight in this day and age, but those who loved her EMOTION album, will probably be here for this kind of tune. ‘No Drug Like Me’ is the more surprising and therefore interesting of the two tracks. This is a proper slow jam by Carly’s standards and it is actually sultry and sensual! Her breathy vocals are stunning and it serves us something different than her usual shtick. She shows a chorus does not have to be upbeat per se to be a total earworm. I would advise Carly and her team to just let ‘Now That I Found You’ be as it will please her solid fanbase, but does not offer anything new. ‘No Drug Like Me’ deserves a proper push!
