Shura returns with first new material since debut album
Shura is back! The British synth pop act released her highly anticipated debut record Nothing’s Real back in 2016, featuring beautiful singles like ‘2Shy’, ‘Touch’ and ‘What’s It Gonna Be’. After promoting her debut, she disappeared from our radar for a while, but she is back and ready for more. She announced that her second album will be titled Forevher and it should be out later this year. Over the weekend, she released the lead single which is called ‘BKLYNLDN’, which is short for ‘Brooklyn London’.

‘BKLYNLDN’ starts out like a sultry slow jam that perfectly encompasses the desire that the lyrics speak about. The chorus is a slow burner, but the beautifully soaring melody does its job of getting stuck in your head straight away. While Shura begs her lover to come over from Brooklyn to London to see her, there is a little twist happening towards the end of the song. The vibe changes and the track accelerates into a sunny little bop that would be the perfect soundtrack to a day at the park. As it turns out, Shura did spend the summer in Brooklyn to be with her lover! ‘BKLYNLDN’ is a worthy comeback single with an interesting structure, that tells a story through both the lyrics and the pace and vibe.
