Ariana Grande drops collaboration with Victoria Monét
It is not even two months ago that Ariana Grande dropped her highly successful Thank U, Next album, but she is already dropping new music. The pop star who is number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘7 Rings’ for an eigth week in a row, already announced that she wanted to drop new music more often and she was not playing. She treats her fans to the brand new tune ‘Monopoly’ with Victoria Monét on April Fool’s Day. Victoria Monét is one of Ari’s close friends and they co-wrote together on quite a few songs on her most recent album, including singles ‘Thank U, Next’ and ‘7 Rings’. ‘Monopoly’ fits within the overall sound of said album. The hiphop beats are laidback and both Victoria and Ariana deliver their lines with a playful attitude. The carefree vibe is contagious and although the track does not necessarily sound like finished single material, there is a hook there. It is clear that both girls had a lot of fun creating it and it shows in both the song and video. Of course ‘Monopoly’ is not going to go down as a highlight in Ariana Grande’s discography, but this is a great treat for fans and a fun way to keep her momentum going!
