Jennifer Lopez returns in English with new single ‘Medicine’
Although Jennifer Lopez has not released an album since 2014, she never seems too far away from the spotlights. She had her last international hit in 2016 with ‘Ain’t Your Momma’, but kept releasing singles ever since. Although most of her recent material has been in Spanish, she switches back to the English market with the brand new single ‘Medicine’ featuring rapper French Montana. J.Lo brings back the trumpets!
‘Medicine’ marks the third time that Lopez and French Montana collaborate. They also recorded the tunes ‘I Luh Ya Papi’ and ‘Same Girl’ together, both from 2014 album A.K.A. The track, produced by StarGate and Sons of Sonix, is a pop and R&B hybrid with prominent trumpets and drums. The vibe is somewhat similar to her tracks like ‘Get Right’ and ‘Hold It, Don’t Drop It’, but it unfortunately does not pack the same punch. in terms of hooks, ‘Medicine’ does not reach the heights it should if she wants to return to the higher regions of the charts. It is an enjoyable bop, but I don’t see it re-launch her as a chart topping pop star.
