Ellie Goulding releases nostalgic bop ‘Sixteen’ as next single
British pop star Ellie Goulding is in the midst of a comeback that is supposed to lead into the release of her fourth studio album. She dropped the first track ‘Close To Me’ last year and returned earlier this year with the absolutely stunning ballad ‘Flux’. She now goes into more generic territory with the nostalgic bop ‘Sixteen’. Over a light, electronic production that swings from start to finish, Ellie recalls a love affair from when she was sixteen years old and she was a lot more care free than she is now. “Time, suddenly we got no time, we’re so busy doing life, that I miss your eyes on mine”, she sings before the chorus with lots of vocal effects (in ‘Anything Could Happen’ style) kicks in. It is a cute bop with probably more hit potential than ‘Flux’ had, but if you ask me, ‘Flux’ was the more interesting release of the two.
