Mark Ronson teams up with Lykke Li on title track of new album
Mark Ronson returned with a new project at the end of last year, of which the first single, ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ featuring Miley Cyrus, became a massive international hit. Ronson now announced that the full album Late Night Feelings will be released on the 21st of June, while the title track featuring Lykke Li is out now! For the Swedish pop star, it is her first new material since the release of her fourth album So Sad So Sexy last year.
When artists with excellent discographies like Ronson and Li work together, the expectations are extremely high. They live up to those with a lush disco-inspired pop song. The song has a subtle retro feel, but does not sound out of place in 2019 at all. The disco touches are apparent enough to give the tune that extra little swing, but it never sounds like a cheap tribute. Now let’s talk about Lykke’s vocals. She uses the higher register of her voice quite a bit and she sounds absolutely stunning. Especially the part in the middle-eight where the pace goes down, she delivers some of the best vocals of her career. The production by Ronson complements her vocal style and the result is equally catchy and classy. The build up is on point, the hooks are undeniable and the lyrics about wanting to get in touch with an ex with ‘late night feelings’ are oh so relatable. ‘Late Night Feelings’ might not be as radiofriendly as the Miley collaboration, but it is at least just as strong. The album is said to feature Camila Cabello and King Princess amongst others. I can’t wait what Ronson came up with for them!
Update: Lykke Li is getting all up in her late night feelings over Mark Ronson in the music video. Lykke shows a totally different visual style, which suits her perfectly. She is a star!
