Bastille announces Doom Days and shares uplifting new tune ‘Joy’
British pop band Bastille has finally announced the release date for their upcoming third album Doom Days. The record will see the light of day on the 14th of June. When the title track dropped last week, I wrote that it sounded more like another introduction to the era than like a proper single aimed at radio, which seems about right as the proper single drops this week! The band unveiled the tune ‘Joy’ which will close the 11 tracks long album. It is far more uplifting than most of their work!

Bastille chose an interesting concept for their album. The tracklist of Doom Days follows the night, starting with first single ‘Quarter Past Midnight’ and ending with the hopeful ‘Joy’ that presents the dawn. Bastille returns to form with an instantly catchy pop tune. The chorus and its chord progressions and melody lines are unmistakably Bastille, as well as frontman Dan Smith’s characteristic vocals. He is joined by a female backing vocalist who ad libs throughout the tune, giving it a slightly more soulful vibe. This hopeful, uplifting and soaring tune makes all the Doom Days come to an end!
