Single Review: Conchita Wurst – Forward

Conchita Wurst forward

Conchita Wurst serves more electro pop on new single ‘Forward’
Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst pursued a fresh sound and image with a new project that will result in the album Truth Over Magnitude (also meaning TOM, which is Wurst’s real name), out on the 25th of October. At this pace however, every single song will be released by the time the album comes. We already heard singles ‘Trash All The Glam’, ‘Hit Me’, ‘See Me Now’ and ‘To The Beat’ and now Wurst shares the new track ‘Forward’. With this track, Wurst moves into lighter electro pop territory with soaring synths and soft, almost hypnotic back vocals that keep repeating the title. Wurst uses the higher register of his vocals, sounding all delicate until he belts out the title a couple of times at the end of each chorus. In terms of production, this somewhat reminds me of Robyn and Röyksopp’s collaborative work, which automatically means it is a bop! Five out of five tunes so far serve electro pop influences and five out of five tunes so far are bangers! Such an exciting reinvention!
