Single Review: Ed Sheeran & Khalid – Beautiful People

Ed Sheeran and Khalid collaborate on new track
Ed Sheeran recently announced a new album which only consists of collaborations with other artists. The record which will be released on the 12th of July is appropriately titled No. 6 Collaborations Project. First single ‘I Don’t Care’ with Justin Bieber becoming a big hit was just as predictable as the song itself, but new tune with Khalid ‘Beautiful People’ is a cautious step forward. The production by Sheeran, Max Martin, Shellback and Fred Gibson sounds full and detailed and both singers deliver top notch vocals. The melodies here are his strongest of this era yet, but the lyrics are again too predictable. Where ‘I Don’t Care’ talked about a party the singer-songwriter did not want to be, ‘Beautiful People’ again focuses on him being different than other celebrities. Sheeran is not one of the shallow and materialistic ‘beautiful people’ as he sings “We don’t fit in well ’cause we are just ourselves, I could use some help gettin’ out of this conversation”, before he admits he does not care about fashion shows and designer clothes. Shocker, I know. Time to switch up those lyrics a bit, Ed!
