Lauv and Anne-Marie duet on brand new 13 Reasons Why soundtrack
For the first two seasons of Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why, artists like Selena Gomez and Billie Eilish contributed to the soundtrack. Season 3 is hitting the streaming platform later this month and that means it is time for some more soundtrack music. The first single taken from the third part of the soundtrack is a duet by American pop star Lauv and British pop singer and songwriter Anne-Marie. The duet is titled ‘Fuck, I’m Lonely’ and was written by Lauv, Michael Pollack and Michael Matosic.
Anne-Marie released her debut album Speak Your Mind last year and had success with collaborations with Marshmello and David Guetta, while Lauv followed up his debut record with tunes featuring Julia Michaels and Troye Sivan. The new track is definitely dominantly in Lauv’s style and more specifically follows the sound of the Sivan collaboration ‘I’m So Tired…’. The rhythm of ‘Fuck, I’m Lonely’ is cautiously upbeat with a simple yet infectious finger snapping production and a catchy but repetitive hook in the chorus. Like ‘I’m So Tired…’, ‘Fuck, I’m Lonely’ runs the risk of getting on the nerves rather quickly, while the addition of Anne-Marie’s vocals fails to make a lasting impression. ‘Fuck, I’m Lonely’ is a pleasant little pop song, but its predictability and repetitiveness stop it from reaching full hit potential.
