Single Review: Tiësto & Mabel – God Is A Dancer

Tiësto launches new single with pop star Mabel
Dutch DJ Tiësto must have realized that tunes with British pop stars work well for him after his track ‘Ritual’ with Jonas Blue and Rita Ora became a hit (well, at least in the Netherlands it did) earlier this year. He has another one lined up with Mabel, who had the biggest hit of her career so far this year with ‘Don’t Call Me Up’, after which she released her debut album High Expectations. Are they onto another winner with their new track ‘God Is A Dancer’?

‘God Is A Dancer’ is co-written by Tiësto, Violet Skies and Josh Wilkinson, but it interestingly enough seems to have Mabel’s fingerprints all over it. Or is that because her delivery of the tune is so convincing and distinctive? Her vocals flow perfectly with Tiësto’s 90s house inspired beats and the track would not have felt out of place on her album. ‘God Is A Dancer’ has a bit of an unusual song structure for this type of bop, but that is mostly because all hooks are so strong it is not even that clear which one of them is the chorus. ‘God Is A Dancer’ is strong enough to both work on radio and on the dancefloor in clubs. This banging tune is going to help us through fall this year!
