Anna Bergendahl back in Melodifestivalen final for the third time
Anna Bergendahl made a pretty impressive comeback last year when she participated in Melodifestivalen (the Swedish national final for Eurovision) with the absolutely brilliant song ‘Ashes To Ashes‘. Nine years after she became the first (and only to date) Swedish Eurovision act not to make it to the final (Bergendahl finished 11th in her semi final in 2010 with ‘This Is My Life’), she reached the Mello-final through Andra Chansen (the second chance round). ‘Ashes To Ashes’ deserved much more than the 10th place it ended up on and now Bergendahl is back for redemption with the anthem ‘Kingdom Come’.

Although ‘Ashes To Ashes’ as a song was almost unbeatable to my ears, Bergendahl certainly improved some things for her third run in Melodifestivalen. ‘Kingdom Come’ is an absolute anthem with a massive chorus and a dramatic build up. The country influence in her music is less evident here, but did not completely disappear. ‘Kingdom Come’ still sounds quintessentially like Anna Bergendahl, but with a broader appeal potentially. The same goes for her stage performance, in which she looks like an absolute star, surrounded by bare-chested male dancers (an improvement to last year’s plant store). The performance oozes confidence and positive vibes. Bergendahl is currently just behind favourite Dotter in the odds, but if anyone could beat her ‘Bulletproof’ it should be Anna. If Sweden sends her ‘Kingdom Come’ to Eurovision, I can’t imagine her not reaching the final again. She would deserve a top 10 to say the least!
