Celine Cairo is ready for next chapter with new single ‘Found A Light’
Celine Cairo is starting a new chapter in her career with her brand new single ‘Found A Light’. The Dutch singer-songwriter dropped her debut album Free Fall at the end of 2016 and recorded those songs once more for The Hector Sessions, and returned last year with the Siren Song EP. After a period of writing sessions in London, she wrote ‘Found A Light’ completely on her own back in Amsterdam. “I felt like I needed to get something off my chest before I could continue”, she tells A Bit of Pop Music.

Cairo explains how she wrote the song about the times she lost herself to dark thoughts, despair and depression. “I managed to come out stronger and ever since I feel there is a power inside of me that will help me to continue my path towards the beautiful things. Whatever happens, I feel that power inside me.” The Amsterdam-based artist explained how she needed to get this tune out of her system in order to be able to write about love and other big themes again.

“I thought I had lost a lifetime, but I found a light down on the bottom of the sea, and I took it with me”, she sings over the hauntingly beautiful melody of the chorus. ‘Found A Light’ starts out with just Celine’s vocals and guitar, but builds to an atmospheric climax which still very much embodies the fragility, but also the hope portrayed in the lyrics. Both lyrically and in terms of melodies, this is one of the strongest songs Celine Cairo has put her name to. Consider me excited to hear what more this chapter has to offer!
