Benjamin Ingrosso prepares for a date on Cuban inspired single ‘Shampoo’
Benjamin Ingrosso is a successful pop artist in his home country Sweden, but he might well go beyond borders with his new single. Ingrosso represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 with the song ‘Dance You Off’, finishing in seventh place overall. He kept the hits coming in Sweden, solo as well as in duet with fellow Melodifestivalen star Felix Sandman. His previous single ‘The Dirt’ appeared in many New Music Friday playlists on Spotify all over Europe and its follow up titled ‘Shampoo’ has some serious summer hit potential.
Ingrosso co-wrote the song with Mack and Aron Bergerwall while Aron WyMe signed for the production. They created a quite bonkers, but oh so infectious tune. Ingrosso has explained before how the song was inspired by Cuban music of the seventies and those rhythms are clear throughout the whole tune and become especially apparent over the chorus. The instrumentation breathes summer vibes and Ingrosso’s high pitched humming and ‘padada’-ing the melody of the chorus is lush. ‘Shampoo’ is an unusual pop track in many ways. In the lyrics, Ingrosso sings about preparing for a date and not only regarding his routines under the shower, but he is also preparing a plate of pasta for his love interest. What a man! ‘Shampoo’ deserves to be added to summer playlists all over the globe!
