Ariana Grande releases highly awaited new single ‘Focus’
Ariana Grande is back. After a very successful string of hits with ‘Problem’, ‘Break Free’, ‘Love Me Harder’ and ‘One Last Time’ she moved on to a next era. You got to strike the iron while it’s hot, right Ari? She also must have thought, if ‘Problem’ was the hit that made me an international pop star, why not repeat the winning formula with single ‘Focus’? It maybe is not the most adventurous choice as this sound has proven itself to be successful before, but when the result is again so infectious and swinging, then I am not complaining at all.
Promising synth pop duo launches potential hit
The names Pete Roessler and Severine Casati may not ring a bell yet, but this is about to change. They form the synth pop duo Late Night Cable, based in Brooklyn and they are ready for the next step in their career with the release of the single ‘Hold You Back’. Both deliver vocals and they play piano, bass and synths as well. For their live shows they are joined by a drummer and a bassist. The band is currently preparing the release of an EP. No word yet on when it will come out exactly, but let’s hope it’s rather sooner than later as ‘Hold You Back’ sounds promising to say the least!
Gwen Stefani tries luck again with emotional track
The days that Gwen Stefani dominated the charts with hit singles like ‘What You Waiting For’, ‘Hollaback Girl’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’ are far behind us, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t still trying. At the end of 2014 she planned a comeback with the single ‘Baby Don’t Lie’ but this did not gather the success she and her team hoped for. The promised third solo album never came, but the former No Doubt singer is starting a whole new campaign which took off with a live performance of the new track ‘Used To Love You’. Today, the studio version was released on iTunes and it’s Song of the Day at A Bit of Pop Music!
