Every year, the John Lewis Christmas commercial is serious business in the UK.The department stores company records a short film with music by a contemporary, mostly upcoming artist. In recent years, the trend started that they ask an artist to record a cover of a famous song in an acoustic and warm version, that fits the atmosphere of the Christmas holidays. This year it is AURORA’s turn. The Norwegian singer-songwriter, who made some waves on the internet this year with her single ‘Running With The Wolves’, made ‘Half The World Away’ by Oasis her own and that sounds rather sweet!

What is it with fashion designers and brands and their love for Bobby Vinton songs? In 2012, Lana Del Rey recorded a cover of his song ‘Blue Velvet’ for an H&M commercial campaign. Now the Swedish-Australian twin sisters of Say Lou Lou bring their updated version of ‘Blue On Blue’ for the campaign of Swedish fashion brand Gina Tricot. It might be a coincidence or the move might be in inspired by Del Rey, either way, ‘Blue On Blue’ is a hell of a good cover!
