Little Mix presents simple, but effective video for new song

It is almost two years ago that girl band Little Mix won the British X Factor. They were the first group in the history of the show to win the whole thing. With the helping hand of their mentor Tulisa, they gained popularity each week and ended up releasing the winner’s single, a cover of ‘Cannonball’ by Damien Rice. A year later they released their single ‘Wings’, followed by the album called DNA. Another year later they release their new single ‘Move’ and a new record Salute in November.

Little Mix is a fresh and young band that mixes pop with light influences from R&B and hip-hop. Perrie, Jade, Leigh-Anne and Jesy’s first single ‘Wings’, a great pop song with a hip-hop beat, became a big hit in the United Kingdom. Second single ‘DNA’, an impressive and greatly produced track with a huge melody, reached top 3 as well. They released the mid tempo ‘Change Your Life’ and ‘How Ya Doin’’ featuring a rap from Missy Elliot next. A few weeks ago they premiered their new single ‘Move’, the first release from their second album Salute.

‘Move’ follows the same style as most of their previous material. It is a pop track with a hip-hop beat, but the build-up of the song is a little different. The chorus is not the ‘biggest’ part of the song, but instead it is the most stripped down part, which works surprisingly well. The melody is incredibly catchy and it is hard not to start moving when hearing the song. What is great about Little Mix is that all four girls have strong and distinctive voices, which becomes apparent on this song yet again. Also, their voices melt very well together.

Today the girls premiered the video for ‘Move’. It is a simple, but very effective clip. We see the girls perform the song in a studio environment. They look gorgeous and the outfits are sexy, but not raunchy, which fits them well. They perform a few dance routines which look cool and fresh. The interaction between them and their male dancers comes across very well on screen. The most important thing about the video however is their contagious enthusiasm. The girls come across very confident and charismatic. It is obvious they had a great time shooting the video and this immediately shows when watching it. The song and the video both prove why Little Mix are the most fresh, young and interesting girl band in the UK at this moment.

‘Move is released on the 3rd of November in the UK. The album follows a week later.

Het is alweer bijna twee jaar geleden dat de girlband Little Mix de Britse X Factor wist te winnen. Ze zijn de eerste groep in de geschiedenis van de show die het hele programma heeft gewonnen. Met de hulp van hun coach Tulisa, werden ze met de week populairder en mochten ze uiteindelijk de winnaars-single opnemen, een cover van ‘Cannonball’ van Damien Rice. Een jaar later verscheen hun geheel eigen single ‘Wings’, gevolgd door het album DNA. Weer een jaar later verschijnt de single ‘Move’ en in november wordt het album Salute verwacht.

Little Mix is een frisse, jonge band die pop mixt met lichte invloeden uit R&B en hiphop. ‘Move’ volgt dezelfde stijl als het grootste deel van hun vorige album. Het is wederom een poptrack met een fijne beat, maar de opbouw van ‘Move’ is nogal anders. Het refrein is namelijk niet het meest grootse deel van het lied. Daar is de productie juist minimaal en meer stripped down, wat verrassend goed werkt. De melodie is ongelooflijk catchy en het is lastig om stil te blijven zitten tijdens het luisteren van het lied. Wat zo leuk is aan Little Mix, is dat alle vier de meiden sterke en makkelijk te onderscheiden stemmen hebben, wat ook weer blijkt op de nieuwe single. Daarnaast smelten hun vocalen zeer goed samen.

Vandaag presenteerden de dames hun video voor ‘Move’. Het is een simpel, maar zeer effectieve clip geworden. Ze performen de song in een studio-omgeving. De meiden zien er prachtig uit en ze weten met hun outfits heel goed de scheidslijn tussen sexy en ordinair te bewaren. De choreografieën die worden uitgevoerd zien er cool en fris uit. Daarnaast komt de interactie tussen hen en de mannelijke dansers zeer goed over op beeld. Het beste aspect van de video is echter het aanstekelijke enthousiasme van de meiden. Ze komen zelfzeker en charismatisch over. Het is overduidelijk dat ze het goed naar hun zin hebben gehad tijdens de shoot, want dit spat van het scherm af. Het lied en de video bewijzen beide dat Little Mix de meest frisse, jonge en interessante girlband is, die het Verenigd Koninkrijk op dit moment heeft te bieden.

‘Move’ komt in het Verenigd Koninkrijk uit op 3 november. Het album volgt een week later.
