In the past the BBC has shown they have a good eye for predicting new pop stars. Every year they have a competition called ‘Sound of …’ in which they announce their favourite new artist for the coming year. Earlier winners were Adele, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and most recently Years & Years. Big names, right? Well, the BBC just announced their long list of 15 acts for 2016 and A Bit of Pop Music picked five acts for the shortlist.
British soul talent ready for impact with new single
Have you heard the mighty voice of new British soulpop talent Hannah Boleyn yet? No? Well, I suggest you do so now. The talented lady treated the world to her debut album, appropriately titled The Boleyn Affair, in October and she is promoting the release with a string of singles at the moment. She pushed forward her finest moment so far, called ‘Permission To Leave’, that will be released officially on the 6th of November. It’s soulful, it’s swinging and it’s catchy. Do we need anything more ladies and gentlemen? Nope, not really!
Indie pop talent from Amsterdam ready for big break
It is always great to discover new music from a very close source. This happened when I first came across the new music of singer and songwriter Jerusa. This up and coming indie pop artist from Amsterdam is preparing the release of her first EP later this spring. So far, she launched the quite diverse range of singles ‘Shadowland’, ‘Lay It Down’ and ‘Rabbit Hole’ which are all equally promising and exciting. Let me introduce you to potentially the Netherlands’ next big pop singer-songwriter: Jerusa van Lith.
