Attitude and emotions on Seinabo Sey’s soulful debut album
Seinabo Sey came seemingly out of nowhere when her single ‘Younger’ became an international hit. The track gained her rave reviews and recognition in her home country Sweden, but did not really take off over the borders until the hot Norwegian producer Kygo remixed the track (not that it really needed a remix, but it helped her career internationally so why not?). It was number 1 in Norway for weeks and other countries showed some love as well. After the release of the EP’s For Madeleine and For Maudo, dedicated to and named after her parents, it is finally time for her first full length record called Pretend, released on the 23rd of October.
Kate Boy brings electro pop to ADE
Amsterdam is currently celebrating the huge Amsterdam Dance Event where every club and concert venue is organising special shows. Every top DJ from all around the world travels to the Dutch capital for one of the biggest party’s of the year. The club and concert venue Melkweg set up a night of electronic pop during this festival and invited the Swedish and Australian electronic band Kate Boy to perform. The trio does not yet have an album out (One will be released in November) but they have enough material to give an hour long energetic show full of dark, but swinging electro pop.
Erik Hassle recorded new single with producer Stargate
Swedish singer-songwriter and awesome pop star Erik Hassle has been working in the music industry for years and produced brilliant singles like ‘Hurtful’, ‘Are You Leaving’, ‘Stay’ and ‘Talk About It’. Earlier this year he returned to form with the release of the funky ‘No Words’. Oh, and in the meantime he also co-wrote Shakira and Rihanna’s star duet ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You’. Today he premiered another one of those delicious songs of himself, called ‘Natural Born Lovers’.
Zara Larsson and MNEK join forces on future hit ‘Never Forget You’
She is a Swedish pop princess who already had two international hits with the tracks ‘Uncover’ and ‘Lush Life’ while she is still just 17 years old. He is a 20-years-old British producer, songwriter and singer who recorded the hit ‘Ready For Your Love’ with Gorgon City and produced for stars like Madonna, Little Mix and Kylie Minogue. They decided to join forces on a duet called ‘Never Forget You’, which will be released as the new single of both of them.
Loreen comes back strong with dramatic ballad
Loreen, who had a huge international hit with ‘Euphoria’ after she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, is all set to release a new single, called ‘I’m In It With You’, co-written by pop star Kiesza and producers Espen Berg and Simen M. Eriksrud, on the 14th of August. Unfortunately for her and her team, the track already leaked on the 11th. Actually, it’s not that unfortunate for us, because now we get to enjoy this epic ballad a little earlier! Loreen does not shy away from a little drama in her songs and performances and that is exactly what makes ‘I’m In It With You’ completely amazing!
Molly Pettersson Hammar was the talk of the town in Sweden after the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2015, the preselection for Eurovision. She opened the night with her powerful and soulful pop track ‘I’ll Be Fine’ and while she seemed a favourite to go through in the competition, her song was sent home undeservedly. If this had to do something with a malfunction in the voting app, we will never know, but what is more important is the fact that ‘I’ll Be Fine’ was number 1 in iTunes for days. There was support for this talented singer and songwriter and this gave Molly the opportunity to release a second single, called ‘Something Right’, which she co-wrote herself.
