Niall Horan successfully starts solo career with debut single
After Zayn Malik decided to leave British boyband One Direction in 2015, their future was unsure. The four guys carried on, but announced a temporary break not long after. This gives the members room and time to pursue a solo career and the first of the rest to make the big step is Niall Horan. The Irish singer launched his debut single ‘This Town’ over the weekend and is already dominating the iTunes charts all around the world.

All members of One Direction auditioned solo for X Factor UK before they were formed as a boyband, so it must be a dream come true for them to finally be able to let us hear their very own music. Zayn left a good example for the boys to follow with the smash hit ‘Pillowtalk’ as first single. So far things are going well for Niall as well. He chose an acoustic, guitar driven pop direction with some light folky touches and judging by the iTunes performance so far, the One Direction fans dig his new material. ‘This Town’ is a cute love song, co-written by Niall himself, and produced by Greg Kurstin, who worked with artists like Sia and Ellie Goulding before. Vocally, Niall sounds interesting enough on his own and it warms our heart when he sings: “If the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you, drive highways and byways to be there with you. Over and over the only truth, everything comes back to you.” I’m quite sure a whole lot of young girls out there are dreaming about Niall serenading this track to them!
