Liam Payne goes tropical on new single ‘Bedroom Floor’
Liam Payne was the last of the One Direction guys to launch his solo career, when he released his debut single ‘Strip That Down’ back in May. The early noughties sound in combination with cringey lyrics received mixed reactions, but went on to hit top 3 in the UK charts, while reaching top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 as well. in the meantime Payne appeared on Zedd single ‘Get Low’, but now it is time for the next step on his own. He just dropped ‘Bedroom Floor’, the second single taken from his debut album, coming in 2018.

The good new here is that ‘Bedroom Floor’ definitely is a step up from ‘Strip That Down’. Not that this was incredibly difficult, but hey, credit where credit is due. Liam might be a bit late to the whole tropical bop party, but I am sure it will still be in time to turn ‘Bedroom Floor’ into a hit (if ‘Strip That Down’ could do it… OK I’ll stop here). Liam worked with Charlie Puth on this track and he has been a guarantee for hits recently anyway. So, ‘Bedroom Floor’ is all about a girl wanting to end her relationship with Liam, but she just can’t resist him. “You said it was over, but your clothes say different on my bedroom floor” is a good pop lyric and works as the main hook for the song. Liam is exploring the higher register of his voice, which at times feels forced in the studio version already, so i am not entirely sure how he is going to pull that off in a live setting, but I guess time will tell!
