Khalid releases first solo single in a while
Khalid sure is one of the most productive artists of his generation. He released his debut album American Teen last year and has appeared on numerous singles and collaborations ever since, including tracks with Martin Garrix, Normani, Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes and most recently Benny Blanco and Halsey. For the first time in a while, he now releases another track all on his own. The new single is titled ‘Better’ and is rumoured to be the first release of his to be announced sophomore album.

On socia media, Khalid announced ‘Better’ as a tribute to his hometown El Paso, Texas. The ‘Location’ hit maker is already known for his modern take on R&B with poppy hooks, smooth vocals and slick productions. ‘Better’ is no exception to that rule. The production is done by Charlie Handsome (Drake, Mac Miller, Post Malone) and perfectly complements Khalid’s crooning. In the lyrics of the tune Khalid seems to try to break out of the friend zone with sentences like: “You say we’re just friends but I swear when nobody’s around, you keep my hand around your neck, to connect, are you feeling it now?” For those who were still in doubt, Khalid ain’t no one day fly!
