Marshmello joins forces with Chvrches on new single
Producer Marshmello had a highly successful 2018. The British hit maker shot to the top of the charts with multiple collaborations with pop acts. His track ‘FRIENDS’ with Anne-Marie became a top 10 smash all over Europe and ‘Happier’ with Bastille reached number 2 in both the UK and US. Before that, he already added hits with Selena Gomez and Khalid to his discography. The next big collaboration is out now. Marshmello teamed up with Scottish synth pop trio Chvrches on his new single ‘Here With Me’.

Chvrches made their comeback last year when they launched their third album Love Is Dead. On paper, a collaboration between Marshmello and the Scottish band around Lauren Mayberry sounds more than exciting, but in all honesty, ‘Here With Me’ does not fulfill its promise. It is by no means horrible, but it is definitely on the safe side for both these acts. Marshmello’s recent singles had more of an edge and so does roughly all of the back catalogue of Chvrches. The build up is predictable, the instrumental drop nothing memorable and the lyrics are something we have already heard over and over again. It sure is nice to hear Lauren’s vocals on an EDM inspired track, but I just wish they would have done something more out of the box. ‘Here With Me’ sure is catchy and radiofriendly, but I doubt the general public will fall for it as they have heard this type of tune countless times before too.
