Single Review: Oscar and the Wolf – The Game

Oscar and the Wolf launch new single ‘The Game’
Oscar and the Wolf created quite a buzz two years ago when debut album Entity was launched. The Belgian electronic pop act had hits in their home country like ‘Princes’, ‘Strange Entity’ and Raving George collaboration ‘You’re Mine’. They played countless gigs and festivals and started working on new music, of which the single ‘The Game’ is the first result. Singer Max Colombie stated that he is not even sure yet if this track will end up on their second album, but it is definitely a great tune to save their fans from the long wait.

‘The Game’ is electronic pop as one would expect, but it does sound a little different than their previous material. The production is a little harder and louder this time around with sharp synths and an in your face hiphop beat. Colombie himself explained that their new material will be a little less sad and somewhat more danceable. Of course the melancholic vibe of their lyrics didn’t completely disappear. Max describes it as ‘twerking with a tear’ and there is nothing really we could add to that. The single ‘The Game’ is supposed to launch the band internationally and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them on even more big international festivals next summer.
