Måns Zelmerlöw launches new single ‘Hanging On To Nothing’
Life has been very busy for Måns Zelmerlöw. The Swedish pop star won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 with his track ‘Heroes’, dropped his album Perfectly Damaged only a few weeks later, went on a tour through Europe to promote it and ended up hosting the 2016 edition of the contest in his own country! During the final of this year’s show he presented a new single, ‘Fire In The Rain’, to the audience. After a well deserved summer holiday, the Swedish heartthrob is ready to pick things up again with a brand new track titled ‘Hanging On To Nothing’.

Måns Zelmerlöw premiered ‘Hanging On To Nothing’ live on Swedish television during the show Sommarkrysset last weekend and now the track is available on iTunes and Spotify. It’s a swinging pop tune with a fast rhythm, slightly similar to Olly Murs’ more recent material. The sax and trumpet in the production are a nice touch that add to the irresistible catchiness of the song. My only side note here would be that Zelmerlöw has been playing on the safe side for a while now. He is a talented singer and songwriter and although his output of radiofriendly pop tunes has been consistently strong, it wouldn’t hurt him to shake things up a bit more and colour outside the lines for a change. Until then, we will definitely play ‘Hanging On To Nothing’ as a soundtrack to our weekend.
