Gabrielle Aplin announces third album Dear Happy and launches new single
British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin finally announced the release date of her third album. Dear Happy will be released on the 17th of January. Aplin kicked off a new era at the end of last year with the moving ballad ‘My Mistake’ and has released the poppy tune ‘Nothing Really Matters’ and JP Cooper duet ‘Losing Me’ ever since. These tracks all made it on the album, just like the brand new single ‘Kintsugi’. On ‘Kintsugi’ (referring to the Japanese art of reparing broken pottery) Aplin sings about how she fell of a shelf and needs to be glued back together. We love a relatable metaphor! The production is poppy and straightforward and somewhat reminds me of the recent work of Swedish pop star Tove Styrke. Aplin’s delivery of the first part of the chorus is punchy and infectious and she follows it up with a soaring post-chorus. Hooks for days and angelic vocals will never not work!
