Ella Henderson finally returns with new solo single ‘Glorious’
Just by the time we gave up on the idea that Ella Henderson would ever make a proper comeback, she does exactly that. The British pop star had her breakthrough in 2012 when she sang her own composition ‘Missed’ during her X Factor UK audition. After the show she took her time to record her own music and the first single ‘Ghost’ became a number 1 hit. The massive chorus over a swinging production with some seriously soulful vocals proved to be a successful combination. An album followed and Henderson appeared on tracks by Sigma and Kygo. For about three years she completely disappeared from the radar until last week, when she resurfaced on Jax Jones record ‘This Is Real’. A week later she shares her official comeback single titled ‘Glorious’.

And a ‘Glorious’ return it is! The single shares a similar vibe and rhythm to Julia Michaels hit ‘Issues’, with a just as catchy chorus. Henderson has a distinctive tone of voice that immediately shines through in the verses and takes over in the chorus. The production on the tune is subtle and laid back, but there is a guitar solo after the middle-eight which proves to be the finishing touch in this tune. The lyrics are warm and heartfelt too, as Henderson sings about how our flaws and imperfections actually make us ‘glorious’. ‘Glorious’ is by no means as big and in your face as ‘Ghost’, but it is elegant and charming in a completely different manner. It is said that a four track EP with the same name will follow soon. We are just happy to have her back!
