It’s a wrap. Eurovision 2015 is done and Sweden took the victory with the song ‘Heroes’ by Måns Zelmerlöw. After a two horse race with Russia it was decided that the contest will take place in Sweden next year. I reviewed the performances and analysed the results!
Tonight is the big night. Europe will choose its next Eurovision Song Contest winner. Over the past week, 20 finalists have been selected in the semi finals, and seven songs (the big 5, last year’s winner and guest of honor Australia) already had a spot on the saturday night to begin with. But who will win? I take a look at the iTunes charts, the bookmakers and the draw to predict the outcome.
On thursday night, Europe chose another ten finalists for the Eurovision Song Contest of 2015 that takes place in Vienna, after Conchita’s victory last year. Luckily, the quality of most songs and performances was slightly better in this round which made for an enjoyable show. No big surprises in terms of results: I even predicted all ten finalists right. But enough about me, let’s talk about the performances.
Aminata is a rising star in her home country Latvia. She won the preselection Supernova with the song ‘Love Injected’, that she completely wrote herself. In the meantime she also launched her debut album called Inner Voice. She will try to bring Latvia into the final of the Eurovision Song Contest again, after they failed to qualify six years in a row. I talked to Aminata about the pressure this brings and what inspired her to write ‘Love Injected’.
It is a busy time of the year in the world of Eurovision. The deadline for submitting a song to the European Broadcasting Union is coming closer, so country after country is announcing, premiering or choosing a song. I already wrote about a few countries two weeks ago. Let’s take a look at another handful of the Eurovision candidates we will see in Vienna in May.
