Song of the Day: Dasha – Wash Away

Dasha Wash Away

Review:
Followers of this blog might already have realized that A Bit of Pop Music is a sucker for catchy electronic pop music with female vocals. That’s why Dasha Akelin is right up our street. The singer-songwriter from New York has been working on her own music for quite some time but only just released her official debut single called ‘Wash Away’. The track was co-written and prodcued by DTronic and the combination of his beats and Dasha’s angelic voices is a gold one!

Dasha explained to A Bit of Pop Music in an email how the track is about ‘a vulnerable girl going through a hard breakup from a relationship. She is afraid to let it go and afraid to be lonely, but she knows it is about to end.’ The 21-years-old upcoming artist manages to get this vulnerability across well in her vocals, but at the same time ‘Wash Away’ sounds hopeful, as the girl knows ‘the fear will wash away’. The verses build up to a mostly intstrumental electronic chorus, that shows some resemblances to the way Flume produced his remix of ‘You and Me’ by Disclosure and Eliza Doolittle. A very contemporary effort from this brand new singer-songwriter from New York, that I will definitely keep an eye on.
