Single Review: Zedd & Kesha – True Colors

Zedd Kesha True Colors

Kesha makes comeback on Zedd collaboration ‘True Colors’
A lot has been written about the legal battle Kesha had to fight over the past couple of months (and years) against producer Dr. Luke. She still has a contract with Sony and Dr. Luke’s sub label, but they granted her permission to record a track with the German DJ and producer Zedd. ‘True Colors’ is a song already released on Zedd’s album with uncredited vocals by Tim James, but for the single release, Kesha sang her heart out. It is the perfect timing for her to release something now, especially with those powerful lyrics!

Zedd took Kesha on stage earlier this month at Coachella festival to perform the track together and today it was officially released. “All my life, one page at a time, I’ll show you mine, my true colors. No, I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes. Let me show you my true colors, It ain’t your rainbow”, she sings with a lot power in her vocals, more than ever before. On Twitter the singer made clear how much this tune means to her. “This is more than a song, it is a declaration of my truth”, she wrote. It is great to have her back and even better to see the passion with which she is working on music again. This powerful, slightly dark pop tune might well be an important next step in the successes of both Kesha and Zedd.
